Unification Church founder dead at 92
AP: Rev. Sun Myung Moon, a self-proclaimed messiah and the founder of the Unification Church has died in South Korea at the age of 92.
Rev. Moon died at a church-owned hospital near his home in Gapyeong. He was hospitalized with pneumonia last month.
“The patriarch and founder of the controversial Unification Church gained fame in the 1970s and 1980s for pairing up and marrying off thousands of followers at elaborate mass weddings. Critics accused the church of demanding cult-like devotion from its followers.”
